[A gigantic battleship that the Japanese Navy was proud of, along with Yamato] The gigantic battleship "Musashi" was built by the Japanese Navy in World War II as the second Yamato-class battleship, and reigned over the Pacific Ocean. Its greatest feature was its nine 46cm main guns. With a maximum range of 41km and the power to penetrate 43cm thick armor plate from a distance of 30km, these powerful naval guns were mounted on its gigantic body with a displacement of 70,000 tons. Construction of the Musashi was laid down at Mitsubishi Nagasaki Shipyard on March 29, 1938, launched on November 1, 1940, and completed on August 5, 1942. In addition to its offensive power, the Musashi was also notable for its defensive power and the bulbous bow shape of the hull below the waterline.
