Set Name:Conspiracy: Take the CrownOverview:This set was first announced as Conspiracy: The Reign of Brago, but the intrigues began almost immediately. Thinking himself safe on the throne of Paliano, the spirt King let his guard down and was assassinated by the notorious rogue Kaya. Wizards of the Coast issued an announcement renaming the set Conspiracy: The Empty Throne. But the scheming was far from over. The infamous Marchesa, the Black Rose, maneuvered her way through the field of schemers scrambling to take control of the high city and managed finally to secure the throne for herself. Once again, Wizards of the Coast announced that the name of the set had changed, this time to Conspiracy: Take the Crown, and this time it was for good. Conspiracy: Take the Crown reintroduced a host of extremely valuable reprints. Among the most notable were Berserk, Inquisition of Kozilek, and Show and Tell. The set also featured lots of high impact cards for Eternal and multiplayer formats like Legacy and Commander. Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast got artifact lovers brewing, and Kaya, Ghost Assassin was universally recognized to have a powerful effect on Commander games. Leovold, Emissary of Trest became the first Sultai Tiny Leader, as well as a powerful answer to Brainstorm that saw play in certain Legacy decks. White also saw a couple of extremely powerful cards printed. Recruiter of the Guard opened up some great toolbox options and allowed a white version of the Aluren combo deck that used this more affordable alternative to Imperial Recruiter. Sanctum Prelate also added a new dimension to the disruption white creatures are capable of, this time shutting down noncreature spells of a particular converted mana cost. Conspiracy is primarily intended as a multiplayer draft format, and as such, Conspiracy: Take the Crown included even more cards that have abilities that take effect during the draft itself. Council’s Dilemma is a voting mechanic that has a scaled effect for each side of the vote. The Monarch is a new and flavorful mechanic that anoints a player as the Monarch, allowing them to draw an extra card at the end of their turn.
