From Chelchele in the Gedeb district of the Gedeo Zone, this coffee is grown at elevations between 1,900–2,100 meters above sea level, with the station itself located at around 2,000 meters. The site is well-equipped with 14 fermentation and washing tanks, 130–150 raised drying beds, and two water reservoirs with a capacity of 90,000 liters each, allowing for highly controlled and consistent processing. Local smallholders deliver carefully selected ripe cherries, which are then processed with precision, supported by a dedicated 30 by 16 meter warehouse for dry coffee preparation.
Named after the village of Chelchele, the site works closely with local smallholders who cultivate coffee in fertile red-brown soil, intercropped with enset, beans, and avocado trees. Combined with a cool climate and evenly distributed rainfall, these conditions allow cherries to mature slowly and develop clarity and complexity.
Chelchele processes both natural and washed coffees, with carefully selected ripe cherries and controlled drying on raised beds. The result is a cup that is refined, expressive, and elegant.
